Purple-spored Puffball

Calvatia cyathiformis


You can see the purple-brown spores in the first photo. Unlike some puffballs that have a little opening at the top to release spores, these break apart to release them. The second photo shows a very mature one before releasing its spores. You can see a photo of the fresh one I spotted the week before here:
