Tarantula hawk

Description:

Tarantula hawks are huge wasp with some species are up to 5 cm long. Black and blue body with rust colored wings. They prey on tarantulas which they paralyze before dragging it to a brood nest as living food. Short video of it feeding: https://youtu.be/nxmA31VpYGQ

Habitat:

Spotted at the National Butterfly Center in Mission, Texas.
