Fiddler Crab

Description:

"Uca tangeri is the largest species in the genus Uca, with a carapace up to 50 millimetres (2.0 in) wide, and up to 25 mm (1.0 in) long. The males have one claw much larger than the other, which they use for communication. The carapace is violet to black, or sometimes yellowish in females, while the appendages are yellowish brown." wiki

Habitat:

Algarve, Quinta do Lago, Praia do Gigi in the muddy lagoon side

thanks António that was interesting :) the crabs were in the muddy lagoon which is probably protected so i was seeing them from a bridge above and couldn't catch any, Tiz ;)

Would have loved to see some crab fighting action :)
I am so faschinated by them! I have recently learned how to catch a crab with my bare hands (without getting bitten)... It is hard work for sure, hehe!
