Description:

Roughly 10 millimeters in body length. Note long petiole separating thorax from abdomen. Hooked tips of antennae indicate male gender.

Habitat:

Wasp was taking nectar from flowers of a lone, blooming saltcedar tree (Tamarix sp.). Surrounding habitat is degraded shortgrass prairie with sunflowers, yucca, and scattered elm trees.
