Crimson Rose

Atrophaneura hector

Crimson Rose (Pachliopta hector) is a large swallowtail butterfly belonging to the genus Pachliopta (Roses) of the Red-bodied Swallowtails. They nectar avidly at wild and cultivated flowers, while constantly fluttering their wings to maintain their position. This was the first Crimson Rose I have seen in my garden since I got back 6 weeks ago.
