Red-belted Bumblebee

Bombus rufocinctus

Description:

This honeybee went around our flower garden, pollinating our plants and feeding on their nectar. The purple flowers are Salvia nemorosa, and the pink flowers are known as Caroline Coral Bells, (Heuchera x 'Caroline').

Habitat:

Typically seen from July to October, in most temperate regions of North America.

Yes, that's what I came up with as well. I was just concerned because some Bombus rufocinctus had 3 bands of orange. Perhaps there are a few different varieties, then.

Hi Michael! I would suggest Bombus rufocinctus, as per the orange abdomen, the black tip, no yellow between the tip and the orange, the black round patch on the back of the thorax. The range fits as well.
Lets see if it matches your mind.
