Red Fox

Vulpes vulpes

Description:

Most red foxes are some shade of yellowish red. There is usually a trace of black in the fur of the middle of the back and in the bushy tail, and the feet and other side of the tips of the ears are black. The throat, underside of the body, and tip of the tail are white.

Habitat:

Spotted on Tamarac NWR near the Cotton Lake boat access. Red foxes live in a variety of habitats in Minnesota, but prefer semi-open country to forest.
