Giant Flowered Phacelia

Phacelia grandiflora

Description:

Large blue-purple inflorescence on tall stems about 2 feet tall. The leaves were rounded and wavy that were covered in tiny hairs. The stigma and anthers are yellow. The filament is a darker blue-purple. There are darker colored lines on the throat but this is not always the case in this species. Typically the throat area fades into a lighter color more than this particular spotting.

Habitat:

Endemic to Southern California along the coast and the Traverse Ranges. This plant was growing in chaparral on hillside along trail. This plant also grows in coast sage scrub and where there has been wildfire.

Notes:

The image of the leaves/stem was corrupted
