Maned wolf

Chrysocyon brachyurus

Description:

Found in South America, this is the largest canid of that continent; IUCN lists it as near threatened. Adults measure 67-107 cm (26-42 in) tall at the shoulder; their long legs are likely an adaptation to the tall grasslands where they reside.

Habitat:

Seen at Washington National Zoo
