Haliaeetus leucocephalus
Lock and dam #14 in LaClaire, Iowa.
SUPER cold today, and apparently I was the only idiot out photographing the eagles, as I stood alone for a couple of hours. The eagles were not moving much today, but I did have this fine specimen dive down right in front of me so I didn't feel stupid being out in arctic conditions:)

Gilma, thanks for the kind words! I had so much fun and never get tired of photographing them. It was very much worth being cold for awhile:)

Bill, you are a great photographer! I love the look in the eyes of that Eagle! Makes me want to hide out of los! :)
Nice series & nice timing!!
Thanks Sckel and gatorfellows! Sckel, I echo your admiration for everyone on Project Noah! It's a great community in which everyone will go the extra mile to share what they find! I also agree with the tranquil feelings of being alone in nature. There's nothing more peaceful:)
Thank you for your perseverance :)
Super photos. You're not idiot, it's a great photographer. I admire everyone bird photographers in Noah. I get more excited when I look around and see no human being around, and I can shoot without people looking at me like I was crazy. Unfortunately, my eyes do not trigger evaporator rays. :)
Thanks Joshua. It is amazing seeing them up close like this.
That is awsome
Thank you Logan for the kind words as always. I will stay warm today. I'm going to head over to Credit Island so that I can stay close to my running vehicle most of the time. I'll definitely add it to the Iowa mission. Not sure why I forgot that in the first place:)
Thanks suzmonk, Ava, Rieko, and Sainsley. Ava, I will certainly add it to your suggested mission. Thanks everyone.
Wow beaker! Stay warm man, it's -37 with wind chill here today and it looks like about -42 over in the Davenport area! And your still getting better pictures than I could on a nice day... haha feel free to add it to the Iowa mission.
Wow, this picture is fabulous. You can really see its wings
