Alaska Moose

Alces alces gigas

Description:

the world's largest member of the deer family. Unlike their deer relatives, moose are solitary animals and do not form herds.

Habitat:

moose -Northern hemisphere, boreal and mixed deciduous forest A. a. gigas - Alaska and western Yukon

Notes:

What most struck me about this animal besides its strength and size is how fast it moves. What took us hours to navigate across dense alder thickets, the moose moved through in moments.
