Glasswinged butterfly

Greta oto

Description:

Its most common English name is glasswinged butterfly, and its Spanish name is "espejitos", which means "little mirrors." Indeed, the tissue between the veins of its wings looks like glass, as it lacks the colored scales found in other butterflies.

Habitat:

Adults range from Mexico through Panama. Although these butterflies were in a sanctuary were the temperature and humidity are artificially controlled.

Beautiful photos! I'm going to try putting fruit out to see what it attracts as well - though in Scotland I'm not sure it will work that well :p
