Young anna's hummingbird

Calypte anna

Description:

The male is easily identified by his song which is thin and reedy, even when, as with this one, he is still in juvenile plumage, with only a spot of red hinting at the red he will eventually have on throat and head

Notes:

He was giving the aerial mating display as well as singing. Seems late in the year, even though they are non migrants He let me get within about 10 feet to take the photos
