Haliaeetus leucocephalus
Mississippi River, Lock and Dam #14
I finally got over to LaClaire, Iowa yesterday and there were several dozen bald eagles there. Most of them were diving by the dam, so most of my shots were from far away, so please forgive the quality. An immature eagle had just snagged a fish, and the photo sequence shows a mature eagle quickly intervening and stealing the fish from the immature. There is definitely a pecking order when feeding gets into close quarters.
