Description:

This insect was hanging on the ceiling with it's two hands. I thought this was quite unusual. I have seen Liam identify something similar,quite frequently. He has been Id ing them as " Hanging Thief"

Sure looks like a Crane Fly to me. Hanging-Thieves have shorter legs that are "feathered" with setae. Note the leg differences: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/724...

This is not a Hanging Theif, they are much heavier in body and differently shaped. See differences here:

This looks like a species of Large Crane Fly. It may be hanging by two legs because there is little purchase for its feet. Maybe you can find a match here:
