Description:

A lungless salamander found only in Shenandoah National Park, VA, USA. Muddy brown-black. Some have a red-brown wide stripe down their back.

Habitat:

Shenandoah National Park

Notes:

An Endangered Species. They have been pushed out of the rivers in the area by the Red-backed Salamander, and now survive in the drier mossy areas on the mountain ridges where the Red-backed cannot survive.
