Bluegill

Lepomis macrochirus

Description:

Bluegill has a very round, pan-shaped profile. It has a dark blue tab or ear flap at the rear edge of the gill cover. Bluegills are mostly olive-colored with a powder blue throat. This fish is about 7 inches in length.

Habitat:

Bluegill is from Tamarac Lake.

Notes:

The bluegill is Minnesota's largest and most popular sunfish. It is found in about 65% of the state's lakes and many of its slow streams.
