spiny orb-weaver spider

Description:

A species of spiny orb-weaver spider found throughout northern Papua (and elsewhere?). The spines and "carapace" also gives rise to the common group name of "crab-like orb-weaver spider" although they are not closely related to the crab spiders.

Habitat:

This spotting in a large semi-urban yard & garden situated next to a disturbed patch of remnant forest.

Notes:

Good views of both dorsal and ventral sides.

Thanks but I don't see any brown on this specimen, and the dorsal pattern is different, so I don't think so.
