Indian Rice Frog

Fejervarya limnocharis


Indian Rice Frog, Rana limnocharis, are small, grayish brown with dark spots in colour. The belly is white. This species is often confused with wrinkled frog, Rana rugosa.


This species mainly inhabits ricefields. They are active until early November. The hibernation sites are underground.

It belongs to genus Euphlyctis as there is presence of webbed foot and no warts seen on the surface of the body also the eyes are placed more on dorsal side i.e above the head not on the sides of the head...
