Black-Scratched Weevil

Sciaphilus asperatus

Small abundant weevil. One of my favorite weevils -- they look like very little mammals with 6 legs. I think these are a most popular food for the medium sized spiders up at the cabin. The American House Spiders seem to just eat them at will.

Diverse woods near a small lake. Wild Strawberries, chokecherries, witch-hazel, and many other plants nearby.

Thanks Sachin, Maria dB and Smith'sZoo!
The super magic camera is a Pentax K200D with a $40 bellows and 50mm reversed lens... Thomas Shahan has been my Guru though the world of macro arthropod photography. You can check out his much better photography done with the exact same equipment here:
He is the master of photographing Oklahoma jumping spiders!
