Here observed in rural setting, in a small village in the midst of paddy/shrimp fields on the border with Myanmar. Seen around habitations and in homegardens and yards.
This is the national bird of Bangladesh, and is called the Doel or Doyel in Bengali (a.k.a. Bangla) language. As national symbol, it appears on national currency notes, and there is also a monument to this bird in Dhaka.
