Bubulcus ibis
Uncommon for SF bay area yet common for the central valley. White small heron is a little shorter then the Snowy Egret. Shorter and thicker legs, neck and bill. Bill is yellow and legs are grey on this bird. The crown and chest is light buff color for this winter.
This one was spotted near base ball fields and in the grassy area eating worms
Surprised to be seen in this spot

Thank you Maria. It's an unusual sight showing up in a sports park. It was just eating worms in the grass next to a parking lot and skateboard rink and I was only 20ft from it.
Beautiful action series!
