A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Megachilidae
Bees are flying insects closely related to wasps and ants, and are known for their role in pollination and for producing honey and beeswax. Bees are a monophyletic lineage within the superfamily Apoidea, presently classified by the unranked taxon name Anthophila. There are nearly 20,000 known species of bees in seven to nine recognized families, though many are undescribed and the actual number is probably higher. They are found on every continent except Antarctica, in every habitat on the planet that contains insect-pollinated flowering plants.
this area is part of the Pacific Northwest temporate rainforest. taken in a private garden.
I did observe them at great length. I found it surprising to see the competition between same bees and other insects for food resources. I would classify their behaviour amongst themselves as extremely aggressive.

Removed from the mission 'Signs of Wildlife' because it is not a 'sign' but is 'actual' wildlife.
Thank-you for correcting the habitat information on this.
A belated merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you
thank you Juan DiTrani
a good Compromise Ava T-B... I am happy with that solution, thank you ;)
The FAQ says " It is not necessary to copy lengthy descriptions from reference sources here as there is a 'reference links' box for this purpose. " It doesn't say you can't leave descriptions from reference sources; I just guess make them shorter.
