Black Ant mimic Jumping Spider(Male)

Myrmarachne bengalensis

Habitat:

Himalayan region.

Notes:

My first encounter with an Ant-mimic. After hours of trying I could get only one reasonable picture. It kept running and jumping and weaving and roping down. Phew!

I used a mint branch, but it wasn't soaked in clay or water either. I will surely try your trick next time. Thanks a lot Gordon.
P.S.- This is from my phone camera. :)

One trick I use to slow fast moving macro subjects is to put them on a twig or leaf whose stem is sunk in clay or florists foam and then sunk in water to form a moat. Insects and spiders tend to feel more comfortable on leaves and twigs and they can't get away (usually) until you release them. It also confines them, especially if using a twig, to a particular plane on which you can focus and snap photos whenever the subject appears in the camera's viewfinder.
