Trumpet-Creeper, or Cow-Itch Vine

Campsis radicans

Description:

From the "Field Guide to the Wildflowers of Georgia and the Surrounding States" - found in disturbed areas throughout Georgia, as well as bottomlands, upland thickets, woodlands, and fencerows. High-climbing vine can grow up to 130 feet long and 6 inches in diameter. Flowers are up to 3.25 inches long, orange or red in color, tubular with 5 spreading, rounded lobes. Blooms June through July.

Habitat:

Georgia Piedmont / Indian Springs State Park - found growing on the concrete of the dam to Lake McIntosh
