Unknown Fishing spider

Description:

Some sort of water spider, possibly a fishing spider.

Habitat:

Found on a rock along the Makuma river (650 masl) in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.

Notes:

Quite common, but I've never seen them doing anything except sit on top of the rocks along the river.

Hi Mauna - Thanks for the help. It was probably 2 inches, give or take half an inch.

Most likely a fishing spider, Dolomedes species. Less likely: Ancylometes bogotensis. How big was it?
