Picus mineaceus
The Banded Woodpecker has mostly red upperparts with its wings, head and crest coloured a dull crimson and its breast washed in a dull rufous colour. The edges of the Banded Woodpecker’s crest is yellow and its upper back is a dull olive-green colour. As per its name, the underparts of the Banded Woodpecker are thinly striped, though this may be difficult to make out in the field. For its size, the Banded Woodpecker is generally not easy to spot and is more often heard, especially in the evenings, with its loud screeching call that sounds like someone screaming.
Singapore, MacRitchie Reservoir. Primary and secondary forest, near Central Catchment Nature Reserve.
We heard this bird way way before we saw it. 11.30 am. Great! There were two individuals, however the pictures of them both on one tree did not come out well enough to post. They flew around from one tree to another and I am not sure if this is just one individual or two different ones.

That's nice that you now know. I am not sure if they live here or were just passing through. You can hear them before you even see them. So keep your ears and eyes open!
I didn't know those lived in Singapore
