Good for you! It was 115 F solidly the first week I moved. Trying to chase life birds around at that temp can be grueling. I have yet to hit spots on SE Arizona, I can't wait to look for Hummers!

Haha yeah I spend time studying locations and hotspots for wildlife around the world...I know of a lot of places haha. It was pretty damn hot...though in Southeastern Arizona it was barely even hot at all that entire time. Once we got to Tuscon, a different story...but SE AZ was quite cool!

Wow, sounds like someone knows fancy places for birding...it would be rough there in the middle of toasty summer!

That's the place I went to hahaha! Those Thrashers were tough. But yeah that spot is legendary indeed! I think it's better in winter...I was there in August.
Thanks for link! Sounds fantastic! Awesome. I can't wait to go back.

There's a legendary place west of Phoenix called "The Thrasher Spot" which has all of the species in relative abundance. I haven't had the chance to go there yet, but I would suggest it for you if you ever visit again. I would also suggest an excellent website on birding Arizona by one of the top birders here: http://www.birderfrommaricopa.com/

It has a ton of info on where to find individual species and location hotspots! Enjoy.

You get some really awesome Thrashers in Arizona! I attempted to find Le Conte's and Crissal Thrasher in the Phoenix area when I was there, but it was so unbelievably hard. I went to that one spot where they get the most amount of Thrashers anywhere in the country, and briefly saw what had to be a Le Conte's but it was so elusive.

Awesome mimid! I would love to catch a glimpse (or even a fuzzy shot) of some of our desert thrashers here in AZ!
