Dark-eyed Junco

Junco hyemalis


A common relative of sparrows. White outer tail feathers, pale belly, dark eyes. Approximately 6" long. This spotting is of a female Dark-eyed Junco. (A male would have much darker coloring on its head.)


Forest habitats, brushy open country, residential areas and parks.
