Long-tailed or Pea Blue

Lampides boeticus

Habitat:

This and other butterflies were found on rocky and damp Teesta River bank. Warm to hot area. Surrounding areas are those of thick forests and patchy agricultural fields.

Notes:

I spotted this beautiful butterfly on the morning of a weekend angling and camping trip by Rangeet River. Despite repeated rising and falling of water level (due to upstream hydro-electric dams), and quarries on the banks, these and some other butterflies were doing quite fine and found busy feeding on the minerals.
