Ochlodes sylvanus
The Large Skipper, of an orange-brown general appearance, is a butterfly of the Hesperiidae family. In spite of its name, it remains a small butterfly, about 30 mm of wingspan.
Common species all over Europe, and found in around tall grasses in sheltered areas of grasslands, meadows, hedgerows and woodland clearings; but also in parks in urban areas. This skipper is very common in our area - pays de Gex; the area between Jura Mountain range and lake Leman. Here, observed on edges of deciduous, predominantly oak, (Bagasse forest) forest on France-Switzerland border.
