Malcolm is correct - yours is a Canvasback - dark bill. A Redhead has a blue bill with a black tip. Nice spotting :)
We don't get them over here, the last sentence was for ducks in general. We have very similar Pochard (male with grey body) and Red-crested Pochard (white side, brown back for male). Females are much less colourful and can be difficult to separate at certain times of the year.

The red eye and black bill are diagnostic for Canvasback males in spring, which for ducks has already started in warmer climes. Most of ours are already in spring breeding plumage.
I would have gone with Red Headed duck on this one,except that the bill is black in color.
