Calopteryx virgo
Beautiful Demoiselle is a member of the Calopterygidae family (family enclosing large, often metallic colored, damselflies),with a body size some 45 to 50 mm and the wingspan of some 70 mm. In repose, wings are kept upwards. Portrayed here is a female; recognized by her dark brown wings, a bit a like an immature male except for the presence of a white patch near the tip of the wings (called a pseudopterostigma) and a metallic green body with a bronze tip of the abdomen.
Beautiful demoiselle is an European species, is widespread in Europe except Iberian peninsula. It is common within its range, and usually found along fast-flowing streams and rivers. Here, seen in a protected zone of Krka NP, where Krka river forms a series of waterfalls and lakes; and the river is surrounded by a magnificent dense broad-leaved forest. Its shores are rich in vegetation; both wetland and dryland.
