Description:

Dry mushroom (ie, not slimy), also the underside was more wrinkled instead of having true gills.

Habitat:

On a gravelly bank next to a ravine. There were tons of them scattered around the path.

I have a patch in the woods that I find & eat every year...once I figured out & felt confident about my ID...a special treat!

These were the first that I've found since I've seen them and had any idea what they were. We collected a few, then came home to check the ID. They were very good!
