Description:

Went on a fungus hunt at Red Top Mountain State park after a rainy week in November (2015).

Habitat:

Found growing in mixed wood forest, growing out of the wound of a living hardwood tree (cannot remember what species, unfortunately).

This is my favorite to eat. Has a wonderful texture and flavor. I'd rather have this than morels anyday.
