Barred Tiger Salamander (Juvenile)

Ambystoma mavortium

Description:

Barred tiger salamander juvenile at the Tulsa Aquarium. I actually mistook these guys for the axolotl, ambystoma mexicanum, until a zookeeper pointed out it was just a juvenile of the same species in the exhibit. So that's pretty neat. Of course being in the same genus they'd share similar appearances.

Habitat:

Found in Canada down through the western US and Texas down into Mexico.
