Cape Rain Frog

Breviceps gibbosus

Description:

Round inflatable body.Flattened snout.Small eyes, horizontal pupils. Granular grey brown and cream skin.Belly granular, mottled brown and cream.Large digging tubercle on heel. Call: burred squawk at short intervals Carruthers (2000)

Habitat:

Endemic to South Western Cape

Notes:

On threatened list. Eggs laid underground where tadpoles develop.
