Convolvulus Hawkmoth Pupa

Agrius convolvuli

Description:

My students and I are raising a hawkmoth caterpillar that was found on the basil plant in my garden. Yesterday, we took a peek beneath the leaf litter in his home box and we found the pupa! In front of the pupa, you can see the last skin that was molted. If you look closely, you can see the "horn".

Habitat:

cultivated desert garden; reared indoors
