Summer Tanager

Piranga rubra

Description:

Wings slightly darker than the rest of the bird but otherwise red overall. I think there were at least two of them.

Habitat:

Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in a shady patch of trees, probably oak and bamboo

Notes:

I heard their songs and didn't recognize them as cardinals as I originally assumed after seeing flashes of red in the trees, so I got a better look and was pleasantly surprised to add a new bird to my list
