Monkey Slug

Phobetron pithecium

Description:

Very odd caterpillar. Moves like a slug, and (apparently) can cause serious rashes! I didn't know at the time that I photographed it, but common sense told me not to pick it up :)

Habitat:

Woodland area of the Shaw Nature Reserve. I think I was actually pretty close to the Missouri River, but I didn't know that at the time.

No can do. The reversed macro makes wider shots difficult. The first shot is the front from above, the second is the front left from the bottom, and the last shot is the front left from the side.

Incredible creature TK. Do you have a shot of the whole thing as I'm trying to get some idea of what is what here. Great macros.
