Looks like a bee, but not sure

Habitat:

Not known, but in a compost heap at the moment

Think this may be a type of bee, there were loads of them coming out my compost heap for about three weeks, but I have not seen any for a few days. not sure whether I should investigate to see if they are still there or not. Help please!

Thanks AntónioGinjaGinja, yes enjoying site very much. These creatures have now become fat and furry (like a bumble bee). The mystery deepens. Trying to get photos in-between the rain.

interesting spotting Elizabeth,it look a kind of wasp.
