Great Blue Heron

Ardea herodias

Description:

This large bird was wadding in the tidal pools, and munching on the small creatures caught in them. I had all the wrong equipment for photographing a bird, so the pictures aren't great, but I imagine they will win me an ID :)

Habitat:

Beach on the Strait of Juan deFuca.

TK nice spottings. I think they are great pictures. The great blue is a very good stand and watch predator. Keep up the spottings!

Ha! I see them every time I go up to my cabin in the Summer, but I never guessed that they were the same species! Thanks for the ID!
