Red squirrel

Sciurus vulgaris

Description:

Juvenile red squirell (in thi region they mostly have brown coats).

Habitat:

Big pine forest, just near the sea coast!

Notes:

Although our squirrels shy from people, this one was so cought up in munching a tomato on a rocks, not 1/2 a meter from sea, that she did not run away even when I stuck a phone in her face to take a close-up! Even my dog had not scared her!

This squirrel made a good choice: tomato instead of potato chips!

Well tomato most likley came with my fellow citizens or tourists the day before (this was around 7 A.M.), since this whole hill (Marjan) becomes one big place to go swimming and sun bathing. Beach is an innapropriate name couse its typicall Croatias coast full of large/sharp rocks.
Sadly, people leave all kind of junk behind them, and tomato is one of ''lesser evils''!

I wonder where she got the tomato. When they are busy eating, I think it is the only good time to take a picture
