Pallid-winged Grasshopper

Trimerotropis pallidipennis

Description:

Brown and white grasshopper in grassland.

Habitat:

About 4500 ft in elevation at Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserve. Range is "Southern British Columbia, south through western United States into Mexico. Found also in South America. A stray swarm landed in Hawaii and persisted for a couple of years in the 1960's."

Hi Jemma, yes that's why I didn't ID this to the species because I didn't see it fly. I'm suspecting it's the Pallid-winged since all of my others are but it looks a little different.
We started our hike early in the 30's and ended in the mid 70's :)

If you see them flying around,noting the wing color helps in ID. This helped me in the ID of pallid wing grasshoppers.Must be nice and warm to have these around.
