Two Striped Walking Stick

Anisomorpha buprestoide

Description:

Seven pairs of walking sticks mating.

Habitat:

Found on the side of an outbuilding.They were hidden behind a piece of plywood that was leaning against the building.

Notes:

They will defend themselves by squirting a noxious fluid. It will burn eyes and mucus membranes. Check out the link for other interesting info.

What an amazing spotting, Tom. The Stick Insects that we have here, as far as I know, don't pose any dangers to humans (or dogs, as mentioned in your link). I've heard of people keeping the local species as pets, but I can't imagine anyone in Florida making pets of the species in your spotting. John B.
