Balaenopetra acutrostrata
Baleen whale. Minkes are 20-30' and weigh about 8 tons. The body is sleek which allows the Minke to swim very fast often at speeds up to 25 knots. The body is black; pectoral flippers have white patches refererred to as "Minke mittens". Snout is pointed and blow (spout) is small. Mostly solitary although large groups can be seen feeding. Dorsal sets back on body.
Ocean.
Minkes are fast and look like large, lonely dolpins when spotted in the water.
