Spotted Cucumber Beetle

Diabrotica undecimpunctata

Description:

This pretty little pest is one of three subspecies, but I can't tell which--I only know it has a yellow abdomen and color on its antennae, which I think rules out the howardi, but I'm not sure on that. I would cast a guess at D. undecimpunctata undecimpunctata, if I had to.

Habitat:

They eat roots and overwinter as adults here in the south, and are notorious crop pests. This one, though, was found on the leaf of a magnolia tree.
