Achatina fulica
This is a great and huge snail. I was just outside (after a big dump of rain) looking for snails because I never found one yet. Incredible!
Did they introduce it, like a biological warfare or it just happened without no one knowing about it ?
That's a rare bit of information, never heard of it before. Thank you ChunXingWong.
We have these in Borneo too, they were introduced by the Japanese during the WWII and quickly became invasive.
Thanks for the info Jason Alexander, where these snails there for a long time or did they start appearing recently?
Thanks Namitha & Jimmy, @Namita, these snails are so many in Indonesia, In Indonesia, these called Bekicot...
And also it would great if you could add this spotting to this mission http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1426...
As Jolly Ibañez has suggested I also think it's a Giant African Snail. I think its the close relative of Achatina fulica one of the top 100 invasive species in the world.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achatina_fulica.
I think it is an alarming issue, to see it in Indonesia too. Are these snails supposed to be there?
