Wasp

Description:

Medium sized wasps (1/4-3/8 inch) reddish brown bodies with yellow strips on the thorax. The legs are also yellow.

Habitat:

Common in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador. They build there nest under some sort of shelter. If there are houses, the eaves or porches provide the best places.

Notes:

These wasps aren't particularly aggressive. Very easy to photograph. They seem to make a nest 3-4 inches long and move on to another.
