Coprinus comatus
These are very tasty if you pick them when young and firm before the black ink sets in.
shebebusynow, We are trying to discourage ID suggestions without a reference link (supporting documentation) because we have had several inaccurate/incorrect ID suggestions from individuals and the spotters have accepted them without question. It falls upon Rangers then to do the checking.
If it's no trouble it would be good to have another (yours) ID suggestion with the reference link. Thank you :)
I can give you a couple:
http://mushroomobserver.org/name/show_na...
and
http://www.mushroomexpert.com/coprinus_c... Or should I put that in the form of an ID suggestion?
EduHerNav, could you please give a reference link with the ID suggestion. Thanks.
It's difficult to identify mushrooms without a shot of their gills, but I feel fairly certain that this is Coprinus comatus aka Shaggy mane, one of the inky caps. If it ends up turning into black ink, then that's what it was.
